SIHI Sweden at Uppsala University

We aim to promote interdisciplinary research on social innovation for health by connecting researchers, students, entrepreneurs, policymakers and implementers in private and public sector, civil society and non-profits, and to advocate for systemic shifts needed to achieve sustainable health in the local context.

OUR FOCUS

SIHI Sweden is a platform for actors interested in exploring innovative ways to promote sustainable health to team up and work on new research ideas and research-based implementations of social innovations. SIHI Sweden is currently hosted by Uppsala University.

The purpose of SIHI Sweden is:

To advocate for social innovation as a means to reduce inequities in health, with a primary focus on marginalized and vulnerable populations.

To promote interdisciplinary research on social innovation for health by connecting researchers, students, entrepreneurs, policymakers and implementers in private and public sector, civil society and non-profits.

To provide support for implementation of research based social innovations by providing mentoring and capacity building for multi-stakeholder collaborations across geographies and sectors.

To advocate for systemic shifts needed to achieve sustainable health in the local context.

To be an active partner in the SIHI network, providing input and competencies and promoting international collaboration and knowledge exchange.

OUR ACTIVITIES

Every year, we host a conference focusing on one of our research topics. Read more about our upcoming and previous conferences here.

In 2025, SIHI Sweden has started a new PhD course focusing on social innovation. The purpose of the course is to provide PhD students with a theoretical basis on social innovation and provide insights on conceptual and empirical research in this field. Read more about the course here.
