To build DERBI as a world-class incubation centre and create a sustainable ecosystem for entrepreneurship through state-of-the-art technology support and business wisdom

DERBI Foundation was established in 2015 with a vision to enable and empower the entrepreneurs through pre-incubation, incubation, and acceleration support for healthcare ventures. DERBI Foundation strived to fuel the startups dreams by providing state-of-art technology support and invaluable business wisdom to the entrepreneurs and has supported more than 100 entrepreneurs.

DERBI Foundation wants to recognise creative solutions that are contributing to making primary healthcare delivery more inclusive and affordable for India. It believes your innovative solution has the power to transform the health system at large. In 2021, DERBI formally joined the SIHI network as a SIHI country hub in India.

OUR ACTIVITIES

– Themes: Circular Economy and Water Conservation

– Invited students from across India to generate ideas on circular economy and water conservation

– A total of 147 applicants, of which 70 were selected

1. Nidhi Prayaas
A prototyping grant of INR 10 lakh was rewarded to a few select innovators in developing a concept into viable products in healthcare

2. Meity Tide 2.0
a prototyping grant of INR 7 lakh was rewarded to innovators developing innovations in digital health and building digital technology

Organised a roadshow for Global Bio-India 2024 in Bangalore.
– Building awareness about Global Bio-India
– 35 innovators, 96 students, and 12 entrepreneurs participated in the event

The panel discussion covered various aspects of healthcare innovation, such as (1) challenges faced by founders from the prototyping to MVP stage, (2) policy initiatives supporting the journey from prototyping to marketing, (3) challenges in healthcare innovation from a medical professional’s perspective, and (4) real-world experiences of founders in navigating from proof-of-concept to market access.

ABOUT US

LAKSHMI JAGANNATHAN – CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Dr. Lakshmi Jagannathan is an innovation and entrepreneurship enthusiast. With over 30 years of corporate and academic experience, her career has shades of various roles in key administrative positions. She is a highly motivated, passionate worker and makes an outstanding motivational leader. A firm believer in the power of networking, Dr. Lakshmi leverages this to strengthen all pursuits. She began her career as a professor and over time, gained interest in supporting innovations that motivated her to start an IED (The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centres) at Dayananda Sagar University. Now the IEDC has become a full-fledged incubation centre that has helped more than 100 innovations in the last four years with her effort. Dr. Lakshmi is the CEO of the DERBI Foundation.

JAGAN KARTHICK G – PROGRAMME LEAD

Jagan is a programme lead at DERBI Foundation who is responsible for managing the innovation programmes across all stages of the startups. He has substantial experience in leading large-scale programmes, grant making, continuous monitoring of the grant process, scouting for new leads, performing due diligence and budget reviews, creating organization plans, and executing timely deliverables. Before DERBI, Jagan worked for CIIE, IIMA, India’s leading incubator as senior associate (Programme and Grant). So far, he had managed approximately USD 2.5 million fund disbursements in the last four years for over 100 startups/innovations. He firmly believes that grassroot problems across the globe can be solved using future technologies that are significantly impacting people’s lives. He is interested in supporting social innovations and being a bridge for the community amd technologies.

BHAVANI G – COMMUNITY MANAGER

Bhavani is working as a community manager at DERBI Foundation, interacting with startups in entrepreneurial development programmes and handling day-to-day operations. She is a very good communicator whose strength is in building good relationships. She has over five years of experience in business administration, event execution, and sales. She previously worked with the Jain University incubation Centre and IESA, an electronic and semiconductor association.
